![]() Our hardware architecture enforces atomicity and ordering guarantees required by BPFS while still providing the performance benefits of the L1 and L2 caches. As a result, BPFS provides strong reliability guarantees /and/ offers better performance than traditional file systems, even when both are run on top of byte-addressable, persistent memory. Our file system, BPFS, uses a new technique called short-circuit shadow paging to provide atomic, fine-grained updates to persistent storage. In this paper, we present a file system and hardware architecture that are designed around the properties of persistent, byte-addressable memory. However, new byte-addressable, persistent memory technologies such as phase change memory (PCM) offer fast, fine-grained access to persistent storage. So, what are you waiting for? Download the latest version of MenuMeters today.Modern computer systems have been built around the assumption that persistent storage is accessed via a slow, block-based interface. The good news is so far, we’ve not found a need to ever delete this nifty application. Uninstalling Menumeters is a manual process involving deleting the appropriate files. The only caveat in installing Menumeters is that it integrates seemlessly into your Systems Preferences which is great if you intend to use it permanently but removal is separate can of worms. With a simple and intuitive interface and a small footprint, you can afford to keep it on your menubar at all times without sacrificing precious screen real estate or CPU performance. Interface information is gathered from the SystemConfiguraton framework and thus is MacOS X network location aware.Īlthough, there are a plethora of apps out there that purport to carry out similar functions, including certain konfabulator widgets, Menumeters is by far the best innovation in this area of Mac monitoring. The Net Meter menu shows current interfaces and their status. Scaling can be done on the basis of actual link speed reported by the network interface or peak traffic and can use one of several scaling calculations. Both the arrows and the graph are scaled using a user-selected scaling factor and calculation. The Net Meter can display network throughput as arrows, bytes per second, and/or as a graph. The Memory Meter can optionally display a paging indicator light The Memory Meter menu shows a breakdown of current memory usage and VM statistics. The Memory Meter can display current memory usage as either a pie chart, thermometer, history graph, or as used/free totals. The Disk Meter menu shows volume space details for local drives (it does not display mounted network volumes for speed reasons) It is hotplug aware, and will show activity on FireWire and USB disks as they are mounted. The Disk Activity Meter displays disk activity to local disks on the system (anything that is a IOKit BlockStorage driver). ![]() The menu for the CPU Meter contains several pieces of information I like to have a single click away (uptime, load average, open Process Viewer, open Console) It can also graph user and system load and display the load as a “thermometer”.

![]() Mugen may be technically better by now, but Fighter Maker's online capabilities will always make it the better choice. A fighting game without multiplayer may as well not even exist. And with Mugen's current architecture, it's going to be a nightmare to implement any sort of online capabilities. How do you even make sure that both players are using the same build, with the same characters and stages. One more strike against Mugen's copy and paste architecture. Lately, I've been paying attention to Fighter Creator. It looks like it has the potential to replace them both. Unfortunately, its development is slow as hell. Vanguard Princess is a 2D fighting game in which you can choose up two ten different characters, all of them female and with the look of Japanese anime. It's all being made by just one guy, who will disappear without a trace for months, then pop up with some update that always feels like it's not enough. Vanguard princess mugen full#Ĭombats are pretty fast and full of special hits that flood the screen with colors and explosions but not an ounce of blood. I'm having serious doubts as to whether it will actually be completed. Seems like it'll take developing my own engine to make a decent fighter. And now, even though half of this post was me verbally trashing Mugen, I feel like trying to make a character for it. It'd probably be something like a boss remix of an already existing character if I went through with it. I really don't feel like spriting an entire character from scratch right now. Rare Akuma is hilarious.Hovering the mouse cursor over the Command Input icons will display text that refers to the inputs set in M.U.G.E.N's Key Config. Community Hub Vanguard Princess Vanguard Princess is a classic 2D fighting game that features an all-female cast each with its own unique fighting style. You has know this pleasure, but is the last. I hope you guyz will enjoy this screenpack and lifebars I've made.Choose from ten girls and pair them with a powerful partner to form an unstoppable team. I took inspiration from many different games for the aesthetics, most notably Vanguard Princess & Under Night In-Birth. I've included all the all the relevant PSD templates for you to use which includes all the portraits and the stage portrait template. I've included one character and 3 stages with this to show how the portraits work in general. It might not be something new to people who are already used to screenpacks utilizing custom ports or to people who have made stage previews before for their stages. This is a pretty complicated screenpack portrait wise since it uses 100% custom ports, and also you need to edit the VP_MBCStage sprite and def file to show previews of the stages you've added. I just wanted to release this one screenpack before continuing back with my work and my studies. Hey guyz, I haven't released stuff in a while and probably won't release a lot due to personal life taking over most of my time as of now. ![]() ![]() More polish, more customisation, more teams, easy offline play… even the visuals compare favourably, making up for their age with clearer readability and charming details, such as player helmets being knocked off when they go down. Heading back into the now eight-year-old Blood Bowl 2 (opens in new tab), I find a better game on almost all fronts. Many of the player types look better in 2015's Blood Bowl 2-and you can actually tell them apart! (Image credit: Cyanide Studio) (opens in new tab) All the little things, such as mutations not appearing visually on your players, or the small amount of badly written commentary lines immediately starting to repeat incessantly, or the strangely lifeless atmosphere of the stadiums-it all adds up to an experience that not only doesn't serve the tabletop game well, it feels actively worse than its own predecessor. It just feels very rough and fundamentally unfinished. Cyanide's job wasn't to tweak any of that core experience, but to translate it faithfully to digital form and build all the necessary functions around it-and based on what I'm playing right now, they have seriously stumbled in that effort. Blood Bowl shows its age a little even in the new updated edition, but it's still a clever tactical puzzle that wonderfully emulates the drama of sports in a distinctly Warhammer package. ![]() When it's working, the core game is great-but what's great about it is the rules written by Games Workshop for the tabletop. (Image credit: Cyanide Studio) (opens in new tab) Yes, that's 7 pages of individually purchased left hand gloves in the shop. Similarly concerning is the absence of many iconic teams from the pretty small roster, surely to be sold as DLC down the line. The review build suspiciously does not reveal what any of these items cost, and it hasn't allowed me to try out buying any of them-but even if they're inexpensive, it's a galling approach. All of them are only applicable to one player type. In this menu, what should be your basic customisation options are sold as individual microtransactions-here a new headpiece, there an individual left glove, and so on. For a game based on a tabletop game that's so much about making your models your own, it's disappointing, but it gets actively insidious when you discover the shop. There are no customisation options at all, other than changing your whole team's uniform colours and emblem. By default, all players of the same type look identical-so, for example, your six elf linemen are all exactly the same, down to their faces and hairstyles. ![]() The teams themselves have their own presentation issues. Oh, one of the teams got a bonus-which one, and how is it applied? It just started raining-what does that mean? Er, why have giant tentacles emerged around the arena, and what do they do? The info can be hunted down, but never easily. It's constantly telling you about events without making their results clear or showing you where to find out more. Similar issues carry over into the matches themselves-readability is poor, and key information is lost in random menus. Once you do manage to log in, you're confronted with a messy, awkward UI that hides core features in unexpected places and forces you to keep moving between different areas just to perform basic functions like managing your team. Some of the animations are fun, but quickly get repetitive. That's awkward enough even without the frequent account problems and server instability I've run into so far. If you want to go offline you can, but everything is totally separate-none of your progress or teams carry over between the two. The game defaults to being always online, even for singleplayer, and you have to create an account on their server to play. But the real problem is, even if all the bugs are quickly fixed, there are more fundamental problems at play. I am admittedly playing a pre-release build, but it received several updates and server resets during the period to no noticeable improvement, and it seems to me like there are more rough edges than a day-one patch can realistically smooth over. Needless to say, this makes progressing through the campaign an exercise in frustration. One bugged match can mess up your overall results and, thanks to the upgrade system that requires gold and XP earned in matches, put you at a disadvantage for the whole competition. That's infuriating enough in a one-off friendly, but it's ruinous in the competition sets that make up the campaign mode. To make matters worse, even in singleplayer there's no way to save and quit out of these often 40 minute+ matches-if you leave, you're conceding the match, and that's it. The turn timer is another oddity-in singleplayer it counts down but never does anything, and in multiplayer it seems to stop working every other turn. ![]() Bumper Mount Swing Arm Grill Prep (N/A 3910).1x Engineered Wood “SuperTruss” Roof Structure with 3/8? One thing I love in ViaCAD es getting a 2D geometry from an imported STL, I use it all the time to remix things I get from the internet.Log in to find reasons you might or may not like the following based on what you play, who you are friends with, and which curators you follow. You can do stuff, and I guess the more proficient you become the better it gets but ViaCAD is a breeze compared to FreeCAD specially at its price point. So I have to put a lot of effort to get good at FreeCAD, when ViaCAD 9 stop working on the new release of MacOS I jumped on FreeCAD full-time and it was not fun or exciting. When I started I manage to figure out ViaCAD just by playing around, in FreeCAD, is not only the interface is so intimidating but it is actually hard to figure things out without watching YouTube videos. I find it so easy and my ideas flow naturally, in FreeCad I get annoying with all the switching between modes. I do CNC and 3D printing stuff (not a super user), and I have used a lot of apps, I have Fusion360 (hobby), I spent a lot of time in FreeCAD, and I still find my self going to ViaCAD for almost every project. In VC is so easy to model things mainly with the mouse and some keyboard input. ![]() Yet seems like more mesh features keep coming to VC. I like to use solid modeling and not really a fan to work with meshes, specially meshes imported (like stl, etc) where I don't have a 2D geometry to edit them. From V10 to V12 I just wanted the new features. I started with VC 9 which I got on the Apple Store for $159.99 in 2015, from there my next update was forced by incompatibilities with new versions of MacOS. I have high hopes for FreeCAD (especially now that the Fusion 360 honeymoon is over) but generally find myself reaching for Shark first.Įdited by user Saturday, Octo11:26:48 PM(UTC) Admittedly the newer versions are getting better in this regard, and 0.20 looks to be quite promising if the topographical naming fixes make it in. I know it can do a lot of things, but I feel like if step off a well-trodden path then my model is going to explode. Personally I find FreeCAD to be quite intimidating for day to day tasks. Having an always-on Python console is really nice. A big plus for FreeCAD is its scriptability. ViaCAD also has a few more import/export options, especially once you get to Shark/Shark Pro, but that's probably not important for most hobbyists. It also has raytracing, but ViaCAD gives you quick and easy photo rendering when you need it. ![]() ![]() In terms of feature differences, FreeCAD has FEM which is actually pretty decent. And the entity tree, while being theoretically quite powerful, isn't as nice to use as FreeCAD's feature tree IMO. The downside of that flexibility is that some of the model management features are less automatic, for example you end up doing your own layer management. I can quickly rough something out and then add fidelity and details as needed. Via/Shark feels much more flexible and low stress to me (caveat being that I'm not a pro, I'm just using it to conceptualise/plan out household projects for now). Some of the nuances are annoyingly subtle, the classic example being bodies created in part vs part design. FreeCAD forces you to do things in a particular order or you quickly encounter its sharp edges. ![]() I’ve seen spreads of numbered quotes and reminders that lead up to the departure date. However, from the BLE specifications, much more should be possible. This already works but it takes a long time (0.5 seconds) to transfer a few bytes. It may not be possible without de-soldering the chip(s) from the modules and programming them using the development kits and/or programmers.įor cheap options, you might want to look at bluetooth modules which are designed for faster digital data such as audio - but then they will not register as serial data dongles from the USB side, so you may have to jump through hoops on the PC side to make a software adaptor that hi-jacks the audio and makes it available as serial data. The device supports only 1843200 bps for baud rate. In the following, for simplicity, I have reduced the program to transmit integers via BLE. Everything was working just fine, until I recently did some changes. The data sent match only if Oscilloscope baud rate is 9600. I am using Bluetooth serial terminal Windows 8 program to send and receive data from the Bluetooth device. There, a very useful program called 'CooltTerm' receives the data and saves it into a. I need to change a baud rate of my Bluetooth module, I have tried it via Windows Bluetooth settings of the particular Bluetooth device, but that doesn't work. ![]() I suggest you look at datasheets for all the chips on the module, and see which are programmable, and how they can be programmed. After a certain time (standard is 4h) the results are sent to a PC. I know there are modules where you can configure the baud rate, but they are far more expensive - I believe the cheap modules were designed for a specific purpose which never got used in the product they were designed for. Saying that, I've been buying cheapo modules from eBay - probably 5 or 6 different types. For example, UARTFIFOLEN defines the length of hardware FIFO buffers UARTBITRATEMAX gives the maximum baud rate supported by the UART controllers, etc. There is certainly no way to do it through windows or the serial interface. They all make use of a USB chip which is programmable, but it gets very technical. I have at least 10 of them because I use them so much, and have often wanted a faster speed. I've been playing around with such modules for years. |
